Biography

Johannes 'Hannes' Androsch (April 18, 1938 – December 11, 2024) was an Austrian businessman and politician of the Social Democratic Party. He served as Austria's Finance Minister from 1970 to 1981 and as Vice Chancellor from 1976 to 1981. After his political career, he was the general director of Creditanstalt-Bankverein and an advisor to the World Bank, as well as founding an industrial investment group.

Androsch was an advocate of Keynesian economics, contributing to its adaptation in Austria known as 'Austro-Keynesianism'. During his tenure as Finance Minister, he helped consolidate the country's economic policy and served as chairman of the Interim Committee of the International Monetary Fund.
