Jean Claude Ameisen (born December 22, 1951) is a French doctor, immunologist, and researcher. He is the director of the Center for Life Studies at the Paris Institute of Humanities and served as president of the National Consultative Ethics Committee from 2012 to 2016.

Ameisen is known for his work on programmed cell death or apoptosis. He has published several essays on science and is the creator and host of the radio show Sur les épaules de Darwin since 2010.
