Raymond Abescat (September 10, 1891 in Paris – August 25, 2001 in Rueil-Malmaison) was one of the last surviving veterans of World War I in France, and its oldest living man at the time of his death at age 109.
Achievements
Abescat joined the military in October 1912 and was mobilized at the war's onset. He was seriously wounded at the Battle of Verdun and maintained a clear memory until the end of his life, participating in documentaries about his experiences.
